8 Must-See Installations at Downtown Design 2024 in Dubai

Downtown Design 2024, part of Dubai Design Week, is the Middle East’s leading design fair bringing together established global brands with emerging international talent. A key highlight of this year's edition is the inaugural Editions Art & Design, the region’s first limited-edition fair, showcasing over 50 galleries, studios and collectives in design, photography, ceramics and more.

Fusing both traditional and contemporary elements and featuring designers from across the region and the wider world, here are eight must see immersive installations at Downtown Design 2024…

Moon Vignettes by Babnimnim Design Studio for Cosentino

Moon Vignettes by Kuwait-based Babnimnim Design Studio (BNN) for Cosentino reinterprets the traditional Moon Gate as free-standing circular portals, symbolising life's cycles. Using Cosentino's bespoke surfaces, the installation blends textures, earthy tones and intricate joinery. Visitors can explore its rectangular walls and circular cut-outs, with sculptural moon phases and furniture from Cassina adding distinctive elements.

Breton by DIPIUGI

Breton, Brazil's top high-end furniture brand, collaborates with DIPIUGI's Founder & Creative Director, Sawsan Chammas Haber, to produce a collection blending Brazilian design with Middle Eastern influences. At its centre is the Mantiqueira table by architect Fernanda Marques, inspired by Brazil’s landscapes and surrounded by a curated selection of sustainable, high-quality furniture.

Poltrona Frau – Imagine Collection

Mirroring the brand’s flagship store, Poltrona Frau’s Imagine Collection pop-up will feature signature sustainable designs that blend traditional craftsmanship with contemporary touches. Among the key pieces are Faye Toogood’s Squash Collection, the Parka Sofa by Draga & Aurel and the Nymph Lamp by Sebastian Herkner.

Interiors from Spain – El Patio

Interiors from Spain returns with an immersive experience designed by B8 Architecture, an award-winning Spanish studio based in Dubai. This year's design concept, ‘El Patio’, pays homage to shared Spanish and Arab design traditions featuring elements like arches, fountains and lush greenery showcasing the historic ties between the two regions.

Finasi – ‘Living Lounge Loft’

Dubai luxury in-house designer Finasi will showcase the ‘Living Lounge Loft’, a collaboration with Italian brand Cappellini that blends bespoke kitchen and wardrobe solutions with iconic furniture. The centrepiece is a luxurious island kitchen crafted locally for versatility, paired with a glass-tinted wardrobe that serves as both storage and a space divider.

Preciosa Lighting – ‘Signature Designs’

Preciosa will present 'Signature Designs’, featuring modular lighting concepts with extensive customization options. Highlights include Crystal Pixels, which blends retro digital aesthetics with geometric forms and Crystal Grid, an elegant installation of hand-blown crystal tubes with the standout piece, Crystal Beat, merging light and sound, with each illuminated “pixel” responding to rhythm.

Iwan Maktabi

Iwan Maktabi, the region’s leading handmade carpet house, will unveil a limited-edition collection of hand-knotted carpets by Emirati artist Mohamed Ahmed Ibrahim, a pioneer of contemporary art in the UAE. This collaboration reinterprets several of his iconic paintings and drawings as carpet art collectibles for the first time.
