Applications Open for Aragoz Heritage Training Programme
A two-year UNESCO-backed programme will train participants in preserving and performing the traditional Aragoz art form.
The Ministry of Culture, through the Cultural Development Fund sector, has opened applications for a specialised training programme in the traditional art of Aragoz, Egypt’s historic hand puppet performance form.
The initiative forms part of the 'Safeguarding and Capacity Building for the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Aragoz' project, implemented with support from UNESCO.
The programme focuses on preserving Aragoz as intangible cultural heritage while equipping participants with the practical skills required to engage with its performance traditions.
According to the ministry, the two-year programme is designed to prepare and qualify artistic cadres capable of practising Aragoz and maintaining its traditional techniques and methods.
Training will be delivered through intensive instruction under the supervision of specialists in performing arts and folk heritage, providing sustained, hands-on learning guided by experienced practitioners.
Applications are open to individuals interested in theatrical arts, puppet and doll performance, folk heritage and traditional music. Participants are required to commit fully to attendance throughout the duration of the programme, in line with the organising regulations.
