Aswan Intl Festival Brings Folk Performances From 10 Countries

The 13th Aswan International Festival of Culture and Arts will take place across Aswan from February 3rd to 9th, bringing together folkloric troupes from Egypt and nine other countries for a week of performances across the governorate.

The festival opens on February 3rd with a folkloric parade moving through the Aswan Tourist Market and concluding at Abbas El-Akkad Cultural Palace.

On February 4th, a river parade of sailboats will depart from Aswan Marina in front of the City Council, followed by the official opening ceremony at the Fawzy Fawzy Summer Theatre later the same day.

Six Egyptian folkloric troupes affiliated with cultural palaces in Aswan, Al-Arish, Port Said, Kafr El-Sheikh, Al-Anfoushi and Beni Suef are participating. They will be joined by international troupes from Greece, Sudan, Palestine, Latvia, India, Tunisia, Kazakhstan and Montenegro.

Performances will be staged at 17 cultural and tourist locations across Aswan Governorate, including the Fawzy Fawzy Summer Theatre, cultural palaces and libraries, Station Square, youth centres and community associations.

The festival will conclude on February 9th with a large artistic gala at the Fawzy Fawzy Summer Theatre. The programme is implemented by the Central Administration for Artistic Affairs, alongside the General Administration of Festivals and the General Administration of Folk Arts, in cooperation with the South Upper Egypt Cultural Region and the Aswan Culture Branch.

The festival is held under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture and the Aswan Governorate.
