Cairo Opera House's Arab Music Festival is Being Broadcast Live for the First Time
We can't take the idea that everyone can just "go out" for granted anymore, even if it's been months since Egypt eased up on their COVID-19 lockdown. And with countries in Europe going on their second lockdown, it's better to be considerate of the risk. Maybe give us a little something in case we want to stay at home, right? Which might be why, for the first time ever, we're able to watch a live broadcast of the Arab Music Festival right on our TVs! The 29th edition of the festival will show up on satellite channel Al-Hayah Drama every night at 8 PM, and then again at 10 PM on ON Drama and DMC Drama.

Having kicked off on Sunday November 1st in the Cairo Opera House’s open-air fountain theatre, the festival aims to preserve Egypt’s heritage through music with 29 performances taking place at the Opera Houses in Cairo, Alexandria and Damanhour, as well as Cairo’s El-Gomhoreya Theatre and the Arab Music Institute.

This year, 93 regional musicians will be performing in the festival, including musicians from Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq and Tunisia. Highlight acts include Egyptian singers Hany Shaker (November 5th), Khaled Selim (November 6th) and Medhat Saleh (November 9th), as well as Lebanese singer Wael Gassar (November 8th) and Tunisian singer Saber Rebai (November 10th), all of whom will be performing in the Cairo Opera House’s Fountain Theatre.

On November 5th, the Alexandria Opera House will feature Egyptian singers Mohamed El Helw, while Ahmed Saad will perform at the Damanhour Opera House on the same day.

The festival will run until November 10th, with strict safety measures implemented for the safety of audience members, performers and organisers alike.
