Cairo Opera House to Open Curtains for Arab Orientation Festival

The Cairo Opera House has just announced the launch of its three-night Arab Orientation Festival, starting February 26th at 8 PM.  

Led by Cairo Opera House head Magdy Saber, the festival was made to showcase the classic musical works of Arab composers, and cultivate the rich heritage of Arab music. The festival promises a total of three concerts with eleven different composers from Egypt, Jordan, and Iraq. 

Part of the festival is dedicated to honouring the late musician and songwriter Gamal Salama, with a collection of some of his standout compositions. Salama is most famous for composing dozens of soundtracks for films and productions in the 1970s.  

The first concert will take place at the Grand Theatre on February 26th, with the second concert following closely after on March 1st. The third and closing performance - falling under the theme of ‘The Homeland’ - will take place on March 5th.
