Director Ayten Amin’s Star-Studded ‘Al Shanab’ Will Premiere at GFF

The latest film from award-winning Egyptian filmmaker Ayten Amin, ‘Al Shanab’, will make its world premiere at El Gouna Film Festival, which will take place from October 13th to the 20th. ‘Al Shanab’ has been selected to compete in the festival's feature-length narrative films category.

‘Al Shanab’ is a star-studded comedy featuring Egyptian actresses Lebleba, Laila Eloui, Sawsan Badr, and Heidy Karam. The story revolves around the 'Al Shanab' sisters, who come together following the passing of a family member and reconcile their differences. The cast also includes the likes of actors Asmaa Galal, Mahmoud El Bezzawi and Hassan Malek.

The screenplay is co-written by Ayten Amin, Ahmed Raouf, and famed creative director Eslam Hossam, who is making his debut as a screenwriter. Ayten Amin is widely recognized for her ability to tackle themes related to womanhood, relationships, and socially driven narratives in her works. Her film 'Souad' (2020) was selected for the Cannes Film Festival and the Berlin Film Festival, and she co-directed the highly successful Egyptian series 'Sabe’a Gar' (2017).
