Elham Shahine Documents Four-Decade Career in New Book
Written by Ziad Karim, the book combines Elham Shahine’s personal recollections with an archive of her work to revisit key collaborations across more than 40 years
Egyptian actor Elham Shahine has documented more than four decades of her career in a new book titled 'Mawed Maa Elham', which traces key moments from her work in cinema and television through the directors who helped shape different stages of her artistic path.
Written by Iraqi-American author Ziad Karim, the book draws on a private archive of Shahine’s work alongside her own recollections of professional relationships and behind-the-scenes experiences. It is structured around 10 meetings with directors, with each chapter focusing on a separate collaboration and the films or television projects that emerged from it.
The book opens with director Ali Abdel Khaleq, revisiting films including 'El Aar', 'Khadema Walaken', 'El Gentleman', 'Enahom Yasrekon Omri' and 'Aleih El Awad'. Later chapters cover Shahine’s work with Ashraf Fahmy, Inas El Degheidy, Hossam El Din Mostafa, Medhat El Sebai and Magdy Ahmed Ali, before concluding with Mohamed Sami, with whom she worked on 'Regatta' and the television series 'Seed El Nas'.
