Everything You Need to See at Panorama of the European Film

The 17th edition of the Panorama of the European Film will take place at Zawya Cinema in Downtown Cairo and Cinema Galaxy in Manial from November 19th to the 29th, inviting cinephiles and industry professionals to gather for workshops, masterclasses and a roundup of the best contemporary cinema from Europe.

One of the highlights of this year’s program is the special ‘Acting & Creativity’ masterclass led by Austrian actresses Julia Richter and Salka Weber. The two stars of ‘Peacock’ offer aspiring actors and film enthusiasts a chance to learn about the creative processes behind acting on November 29th at Zawya Cinema.

Beyond acting, the festival is also offering a hands-on workshop with cinematographer Moustafa Fahmy and colour grading artist Ahmed Essam. Taking place on December 5th, the workshop will focus on lighting techniques and colour grading workflows. Applications for the workshop are open until December 2nd, and aspiring filmmakers are urged to apply early, as spaces are limited.

In addition to the masterclasses and workshops, the festival’s screenings will showcase a curated selection of European films. This year’s lineup includes ‘The Substance’ by Coralie Fargeat from France, ‘The Room Next Door’ by Pedro Almodóvar from Madrid and New York, and ‘Soundtrack to a Coup d’État’ by Johan Grimonprez from Belgium, France and the Netherlands. Other films include ‘Ghost Trail’ by Johan Grimonprez from France, ‘Julie Keeps Quiet’ by Leonardo Van Dijl from Belgium, ‘On Falling’ by Laura Carreira, a British-Portuguese film, and ‘The Devil’s Bath’ by Veronika Franz and Severin Fiala from Austria.
