Free Theatre Shows to Mark October Victory Anniversary Across Egypt
The Theatre Artistic House is staging free performances, puppet shows and cultural events throughout October in Cairo, Alexandria and Sinai.
The Theatre Artistic House is staging a programme of free performances and cultural activities across Cairo, Alexandria and several towns and villages in North and South Sinai to mark the 53rd anniversary of the October Victory. The programme includes stage productions, puppet theatre, music and storytelling events running throughout October.
In Cairo, ‘Sahina Ya Sina’ will open at Al Hanager at the Cairo Opera House on October 15th for a 15-night run. The production looks at the Egyptian Armed Forces and police in Sinai, the October 1973 War and the stories of Colonel Ahmed Mansi and those killed at the Al Barth checkpoint. Written with lyrics by Khamis Ezz El Arab and directed by Essam El Shouikh, the cast includes Mohamed Nasr, Nadia El Shoueikh, Hatem Ezzat, Reem Tarek and Hossam Sayed.
Elsewhere, the Cairo Puppet Theatre is touring ‘Golden October’ through towns and villages in North and South Sinai from October 5th to 15th as part of the Confrontation and Touring project, presenting the history of the October War to children and younger audiences.
Theatre Artistic House venues in Cairo and Alexandria will also screen national songs from October 6th, while the final week of the month will see the National Theatre host the first edition of the Theatre Tales Salon, titled ‘Happened in October’, prepared and presented by Mohamed Bahgat and directed by Sameh Mogahed.
