Mahmoud Hemida Receives El Gouna Film Fest’s Career Achievement Award
An icon of the Egyptian silver screen, Mahmoud Hemida will receive GFF’s Career Achievement Award at its upcoming 7th edition.
El Gouna Film Festival will honour acting legend Mahmoud Hemida with its Career Achievement Award at its upcoming seventh edition, taking place from October 24 to November 1.
Hemida has been an icon of the Egyptian silver screen for decades, both as an actor and producer. His contributions to cinema include his production house, Al-Batrik, founded in the 1990s, and the cinematic magazine The Seventh Art, which ran for seven years.
Hemida’s cinematography has included "Fares Al-Madina/City Knight" (1993) by Mohamed Khan, "Harb El Farawla /Strawberry Wars" (1994) with Khairy Beshara, and "Afareet El Asfalt/Asphalt Ghosts" (1996) by Ossama Fawzy. He also starred in Photocopy (2017), which premiered at El Gouna Film Festival’s first edition.

His contributions go far beyond acting; they extend into the very fabric of our cinematic heritage,” El Gouna Film Festival’s Artistic Director, Marianne Khoury, told CairoScene, “This award is not just a recognition of his personal achievements but a tribute to the role of art in confronting social and cultural challenges.”
