Menna Shalaby Leads ‘Anbar El Mot’ Inspired by 1970s Murder Cases

Actress Menna Shalaby is filming a new thriller drama series titled ‘Anbar El Mot’, inspired by true events from the 1970s and planned for release on a digital streaming platform outside the Ramadan season.

According to reports, Shalaby has completed most of her scenes and recently resumed filming following a mourning period after the death of her father.

Production is scheduled to move to Alexandria next week before pausing during Eid al-Adha and continuing afterwards.

The series follows Nadia, a hospital nurse played by Menna Shalaby, who becomes entangled in accusations of intentionally killing patients. Within the story, the character faces a criminal case after receiving a death sentence tied to the death of a patient at the hospital where she works.

Investigations later raise suspicions around alleged attempts to kill more than 30 additional patients. Ali Qassem co-stars as Nadia’s lawyer, who continues defending her despite receiving death threats linked to the case. The cast also includes Rushdy El Shami as the protagonist’s father, Basma as the hospital’s head of nursing, and Haleem El Gendy alongside additional guest stars.

‘Anbar El Mot’ is directed by Karim El Shenawy, whose previous works include the series ‘El Harsha El Sabaa’ and the film ‘Khaly Balak Men Zizi’. The writing room is supervised by Mariam Naoum, known for projects including ‘Taht El Saytara’, ‘Lam Shamseya’, and ‘Segn El Nesa’.

The story and head writing are by Bola Thabet, while the screenplay and dialogue are written by Bola Thabet, Salma Abdelwahab, and Hussein Hossam. Production is handled by Tarek Nour Studios.
