National Festival of Egyptian Theatre to Honour Esaad Younis

The National Festival of Egyptian Theatre has announced that actress and television presenter Esaad Younis will be honoured during its 19th edition, recognising her decades-long contribution to Egypt's theatre scene.

Chaired by actor Mohamed Riad, the festival continues its annual tradition of celebrating artists whose work has left a lasting impact on Egyptian theatre.

According to the festival, Younis has appeared in more than 15 stage productions spanning comedy and social theatre. Among the works highlighted are 'Walsayeda Harim', opposite the late Youssef Shaaban, 'Arousa Tegannen', 'Ballo', 'Al Dokhool Bel Malabes Al Rasmiya', and 'Juha Yahkom Al Madina', which organisers said helped establish her as one of the country's leading theatre performers.

Commenting on the recognition, Younis said the honour holds special significance because theatre marked the beginning of her artistic career. She described the stage as a school that taught discipline, commitment and respect for audiences, adding that live performance creates a unique sense of responsibility and connection that other forms of media cannot replicate.

Mohamed Riad said honouring Younis reflects the festival's commitment to recognising artists whose careers have been shaped by theatre, noting that her body of work remains an enduring part of Egypt's theatrical legacy.
