The Arab Film Club Explores Palestinian Cinema in New Podcast

Grab your popcorn and your earbuds – the Arab Film Club is bringing you an all-new podcast dedicated to Middle Eastern cinema. The first five episodes, which will be released every two weeks starting today, will centre around Palestinian films and filmmakers. Hosted by Palestinian-Irish actress Sarah Agha, these episodes will feature interviews with pioneering directors Darin J. Sallam, director of ‘Farha’, Lina Soualem, director of ‘Bye Bye Tiberias’, Ameen Nayfeh, director of ‘200 Metres’, Annemarie Jacir, director of ‘Wajib’, and Farah Nabulsi, director of ‘The Teacher’.

This podcast is the Arab Film Club’s newest venture, but it is not its first. This community-based London group has been exploring the cinema of the Middle East since 2020 through film screenings and discussions that are held either in-person or online. The group has watched and discussed films from all over the MENA region, from Morocco to Saudi Arabia. The group started with a single play reading, and has now hosted events with hundreds of people.

You can listen to the Arab Film Club podcast on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and Podbean.
