In the heart of Tunis Village, visual artist Mohamed Abla created the region’s first caricature museum as part of the Fayoum Art Center.
From portraits of Mohamed Salah to artwork inspired by Palestine, the museum brings together a complete collection of cartoons and caricatures, while its archive offers a rare glimpse into Cairo’s history through satire.
The centre also welcomes artists through its cosy Art Inn Residency and hosts regular events like CaricaTunis, its international competition for caricature and satirical portraiture.
A landmark for satirical art in the Middle East, the museum tells Egypt’s story through humour, politics and creativity, because sometimes, a drawing says what words simply can’t.
