Wadi AlFann Publications Unveils New Books After Venice Showcase
Wadi AlFann published new books which delve into the natural beauty of AlUla, written by Saudi and American artists.
Wadi AlFann Publications, based in AlUla, has introduced two new books: ‘Oasis of Stories’ by Saudi artist Manal AlDowayan, and ‘The Desert Field Guide’ by US artist Mark Dion. ‘Oasis of Stories’ presents drawings collected from AlDowayan's workshops with over 700 Saudi women in AlUla, culminating in her representation of the Kingdom at the Venice Biennale. The artworks depict various facets of women's lives in the Kingdom, reflecting the cultural richness and identity of the region. Dion's book serves as a guide for visitors and locals to explore the natural history and cultural significance of AlUla. According to Dion, the deserts of AlUla possess remarkable beauty and unique life forms. The guide aims to inspire wonder by placing Wadi AlFann in a global context while highlighting the diverse life forms found in the region's deserts. At the Venice Biennale, AlDowayan and Dion engaged in a panel discussion, delving into their latest releases and the importance of participation in their artistic practice. Wadi AlFann's showcase in Venice featured artworks by the first five artists commissioned for AlUla's upcoming cultural destination, set to open in late 2026.
