Libyan lender Libyan Islamic Bank has partnered with Bahrain-based digital payments and fintech company Arab Financial Services to modernise Libya’s payments infrastructure through Visa card issuance and processing services.
Under the partnership, Libyan Islamic Bank will use AFS’s Visa-powered infrastructure to support faster customer onboarding, upgraded payment processing, and expanded digital banking services.
According to AFS, the collaboration also incorporates tokenisation and encryption systems designed to secure transactions and customer data across digital payment channels.
The company stated that the partnership will support the development of scalable banking infrastructure intended to accommodate future digital financial products and next-generation payment services in the Libyan market.
AFS added that the initiative forms part of wider expansion efforts across North Africa focused on strengthening regional payment connectivity, digital banking infrastructure, and financial inclusion.
