Palestinian Journalist Plestia Alaqad to Speak at RiseUp Summit 2026

Award-winning Palestinian journalist and author, Plestia Alaqad, is set to speak at RiseUp Summit 2026, scheduled to take place from February 5th-7th at the Grand Egyptian Museum.

Alaqad, who gained international recognition for her real-time digital reporting from Gaza, will take to the Creative Stage to discuss the evolution of storytelling in the digital age and the power of ‘citizen journalism’.

The announcement comes on the heels of the success of Alaqad’s debut memoir, ‘The Eyes of Gaza: A Diary of Resilience’.

Released in 2025, the book became a New York Times bestseller, offering an intimate look at the early weeks of the conflict through her personal diary entries.

In addition to her journalistic work, Alaqad has moved into the arts, and is set for the lead role in the upcoming Palestinian film ‘The Visitor’.
