PayPal Opens Its First MENA HQ in Dubai to Serve 80 Countries

PayPal has inaugurated its first regional headquarters for the Middle East and Africa (MEA) in Dubai Internet City. The new hub will serve as the operational base for 80 countries across MEA, aiming to enhance digital commerce capabilities and facilitate cross-border transactions for both consumers and businesses.

The opening ceremony was attended by His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Finance of the UAE. During the event, Sheikh Maktoum emphasized Dubai's commitment to fostering innovation and supporting the growth of global financial institutions within the emirate.

Suzan Kereere, President of Global Markets at PayPal, highlighted the company's objective to bridge the gap between consumers and businesses in cross-border commerce. She noted that PayPal currently serves over 430 million customers worldwide and aims to reach more users through its new regional hub.

In line with its expansion, PayPal has entered into strategic partnerships to bolster its services in the region. Notably, the company has collaborated with TerraPay to enable real-time cross-border fund transfers, enhancing financial connectivity across MEA.

This development aligns with Dubai's broader economic agenda, known as D33, which aspires to position the city among the world's top four financial centres.
