Saudi Fintech Barq to Acquire Bahrain’s Beyon Money
The undisclosed deal would expand Barq’s GCC presence, while Beyon Group retains an economic interest in the Saudi fintech.
Saudi fintech group Barq, formally Etihad Technology Holding, plans to acquire Bahrain-based digital financial services platform Beyon Money in an undisclosed transaction, expanding its presence across the Gulf Cooperation Council.
The agreement was announced at the Future FinTech Forum in Manama, with Beyon Group set to retain an economic interest in Barq after the transaction. The deal remains subject to final regulatory approvals.
Founded in 2023, Barq says its user base has grown to more than 15 million. The proposed acquisition follows its $329.5 million Series A round in September 2026 and forms part of a wider strategy to expand beyond Saudi Arabia and strengthen its position in the regional fintech market.
Beyon Money, launched in 2022, provides digital money transfer and open banking services in Bahrain. Its existing services will continue during a gradual transition toward broader financial offerings, although the companies have not announced a detailed implementation schedule or completion date.
