Tunisian Q-Commerce App Lamma Starts North African Expansion

Lamma, a Tunisian quick commerce startup, has launched in Morocco as part of its ambitions to expand across the rest of Africa.

Although it began as a ridesharing app in 2020, Lamma has focused on logistics since June 2021 after taking part in the Flat6Labs Tunis accelerator programme. Since then, it has delivered groceries, food, electronics, fashion pieces and other such items to users in less than 45 minutes through its dark stores and partner network.

The new direction helped it see rapid success, with Lamma seeing over 50% month-on-month growth in Tunis. It has more than 1,000 stock-keeping units, and operates with more than 150 merchants. After securing an undisclosed investment from Orange Ventures in October 2021, Lamma aims to bring its quick commerce app in Sub-Saharan African markets.
