Valu Secures LE 600 Million EBRD Loan for Green Consumer Financing

Egyptian fintech platform Valu has secured a LE 600 million loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to expand financing for household purchases of energy-efficient and renewable technologies.

According to the EBRD, the facility is intended to encourage wider consumer adoption of solar power systems and electric mobility solutions.

Alongside the loan, the bank has provided a EUR 74,900 technical cooperation package to help Valu develop tailored green finance products and establish mechanisms for tracking eligible retail investments.

The financing builds on partnerships announced in December 2025 with renewable energy infrastructure companies including Infinity and KarmSolar, which were aimed at supporting the rollout of electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

The latest funding comes amid growing interest in consumer financing solutions designed to accelerate the adoption of clean energy technologies and broaden access to sustainable products.
