Vodafone Qatar Acquires SME Fintech Maktapp to Expand Services
The telecom operator has acquired a Qatar-based SME software and fintech platform.
Vodafone Qatar has completed the acquisition of Maktapp, a cloud-based business and fintech platform, through its subsidiary Infinity Fintech Ventures.
Founded in 2014 by Saleh Al-Mansouri and Waleed Alyafei, Maktapp provides software tools designed for small and medium-sized businesses across the Middle East. Its fintech arm, Fatora, launched in 2018, focuses on payments and invoice management.
The company has previously received backing from Qatar Development Bank, Qatar FinTech Hub, Seedstars International Ventures and 500 Global, and was named Best Technology Company in Qatar in 2017.
The acquisition adds Maktapp’s SME-focused software and financial tools to Vodafone Qatar’s expanding digital services portfolio, as the company moves beyond its core telecom business.
Through Infinity Fintech Ventures, Vodafone Qatar has been building exposure to financial technology, including the launch of iPay, an e-wallet licensed by the Qatar Central Bank.
