Cairo Airport Receives First Polish Flight in Nine Years

The first Polish flight to Egypt in nine years landed safely in Cairo recently, signalling the end of a hiatus that lasted nearly a decade.

Poland was one of many European countries that put a pause on tourism due to security concerns in 2013. Now, they’re returning at a rate of five flights per week, which is expected to help make up for a decline in tourism from Eastern Europe due to the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine.

During a three-day visit, Polish President Andrey Duda met with Egyptian President Abel Fattah El-Sisi in Cairo, where they discussed the possibility of exporting crops from Poland. The Polish president is also supporting EU negotiations with Egypt to help Europe with its gas supply.
