Dubai Health Authority Sets New Standards for Mental Health Services
The DHA's guidelines are developed in coordination with the Health Standards Organization and Accreditation Canada.

The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has announced the implementation of new standards for mental health services, aligning with global best practices to develop a comprehensive and sustainable mental health care system in the emirate
These updated guidelines focus on fostering collaboration among healthcare professionals, including doctors, psychologists, and nurses, to ensure comprehensive care that meets patients' needs to the highest professional standards. Part of the new standards is the integration of digital health services and teletherapy, adopting the latest international virtual care guidelines to provide high-quality psychological consultations while maintaining patient confidentiality and accessibility.
Developed in coordination with experts and international organisations such as the Health Standards Organization and Accreditation Canada, the standards emphasise evidence-based therapeutic protocols based on recommendations from the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the American Psychological Association (APA). They also include clear regulations for licensing and registration procedures, ensuring that services are provided by qualified personnel with precise definitions of roles and responsibilities.
The DHA is also prioritising the professional development of mental health specialists through advanced training programmes and specialised workshops, ensuring they keep pace with global developments and achieve continuous improvement in service levels. These initiatives aim to create a safe and supportive therapeutic environment that meets the needs of different age groups, including children, adolescents, and the elderly.
