Egypt & Belarus Sign Memoranda to Boost Economic Cooperation

Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli and Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko signed a memorandum of understanding to boost economic cooperation between Belarus and Egypt, particularly in the investment, trade and tourism sectors.

During a joint press conference, PM Madbouli expressed plans for a mutually beneficial exchange experience on water technology, citing that a significant proportion of machinery used in Egyptian agribusiness is imported from Belarus.

The annual trade exchange between Egypt and Belarus amounts to USD 95 million on average. Egypt is the second most popular destination for Belarusian tourists. In addition, Egypt routinely imports tractors, trucks, tires, metals, fertilisers, X-ray equipment, petrochemicals,  agricultural products and pharmaceuticals from Belarus. Belarus, in turn, imports citrus, aromatic plants, pharmaceuticals and garments from Egypt, according to the State Information Service.
