Egyptian Gamers Make Up 58% of MENA Region’s Esports Market
Egypt’s esports scene will soon take centre stage with the upcoming GAMERGY festival.
Egypt holds 58% of the MENA region's USD 7.2 billion e-sports market, thanks to the country’s massive crowd of 40 million gamers, including 7 million competitive esports players. These figures were recently shared by Sherif Elbassiouny, CEO of eProjects LLC, during a press conference for GAMERGY. Considered one of the world’s largest esports festivals, GAMERGY is set to make its Cairo debut from January 30th to February 1st, 2025.
Originally launched in Spain in 2011, GAMERGY has since expanded to Latin America, offering gamers and esports champs across the region the chance to gather, compete and be at the forefront of the gaming industry. Now, the festival will make its way to Egypt with over EGP 2 million in prizes and an anticipated 40,000 attendees.
GAMERGY Egypt will feature six zones dedicated to different gaming platforms, including PC, mobile, PlayStation, and virtual reality. Daily events include live shows, concerts, cosplay competitions, and panel discussions with industry leaders. Attendees can also interact with international and local gaming influencers, e-sports icons, and pro teams. Tickets are available now on TicketsMarche.
Statista projects Egypt’s e-sports revenue will hit USD 4.6 million by 2024, with a 9.4% annual growth rate driving the market to USD 7.2 million by 2029.
