Emirates Red Crescent Launches Water Aid Initiative
The campaign aims to ease the dangerous effects of summer heat, which has reached 50 degrees Celsius in the UAE.
The Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) has launched ‘The Water Aid Initiative’ in order to ease the dangerous effects of rising summer temperatures, locally and internationally. The campaign specifically aims to help underprivileged families, blue-collar workers and other individuals involved in strenuous manual labour, particularly as temperatures rise to as high as 50 degrees Celsius in the UAE.
The campaign helps struggling locals by providing them with equipment to protect themselves from the sun, including parasols, water cooling containers and care packages. Simultaneously, the campaign is helping on a larger scale by drilling wells, and providing water tanks and atmospheric water generators.
According to the ERC, the initiative works to precipitate a qualitative shift in the lives of people in water-scarce countries, and thus are calling on donors to financially contribute to their important work.
