Entry Fees for Arab Tourists to Rise at Egyptian Sites in 2026

Foreign Arab tourists visiting Egypt will face higher entry fees at museums and archaeological sites beginning January 1st, 2026, according to the Supreme Council of Antiquities. The change ends a decades-old policy that allowed Arab visitors to pay the same rates as Egyptian citizens.

That policy was originally established by a decree issued on September 28th, 2002, which aimed to encourage cultural tourism from neighbouring countries. The Council's recent decision to reverse it was attributed to income disparities and to precedent set by newer institutions such as the Grand Egyptian Museum and the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, both of which already apply a two-tiered fee structure.

Under the new rules, ticket prices across all sites managed by the Supreme Council of Antiquities will be split into two categories: one for Egyptian nationals and one for all foreign visitors, including Arab nationals.
