Experimental Electric Taxis Hit the Road in New Administrative Capital
The Ministry of Transport introduced an electric taxi service to operate in the New Administrative Capital.
The Ministry of Transport will soon launch a new electric taxi service in the New Administrative Capital on May 15th. Set to operate on a trial basis, the preliminary phase will have a fleet of 145 cars, made up of 60 Chevrolet Bolt cars and 85 MG4 cars. These vehicles will include passenger safety features such as interior and exterior cameras, GPS location devices, and constant communication with the central control room within the Arab Union Company, Super Jet.
Passengers will be able to book a ride through a mobile app, set to launch alongside the service, offering payment options via credit card or cash. They will also be able to voice their complaints or suggestions via a hotline.
The debut of these taxis follows the introduction of the New Administrative Capital’s eco-friendly buses. The East Nile Monorail and the third phase of the Light Rail Transit (LRT) are also scheduled for launch in the near future, completing the capital’s plans for a green and smart transportation system.
