Giza Zoo to Reopen in September After Major Renovations

The Ministry of Agriculture has announced that the reopening of Giza Zoo and Orman Garden will take place in September 2025, following extensive renovations aimed at modernising the facilities and enhancing visitor experiences.

The initial reopening of Giza Zoo is scheduled for Eid Al-Fitr, approximately 50 days from now, allowing visitors to experience the partially-completed upgrades before the grand reopening.

The full-scale renovation, which was announced in 2023, is part of Egypt’s broader vision to transform Giza Zoo into a globally competitive wildlife attraction. The project includes a new tunnel connecting Giza Zoo and Orman Garden, more open spaces for animals that would replace traditional cages with free-roaming enclosures, and enhanced security and safety measures for visitors.

The final opening in September 2025 will coincide with Egypt’s hosting of the African Zoo Association Conference.
