‘In the Night’ Art Exhibit Showing in Diriyah’s JAX District
The Saudi Arabia Museum of Contemporary Art is hosting this free exhibit until May 20th.
What do you do when the sun goes down? That is the question explored in a new exhibition at the Saudi Arabia Museum of Contemporary Arts (SAMoCA) at Riyadh’s JAX District. Titled ‘In the Night’, this exhibit explores the mystery and beauty of this ethereal time.
The exhibit features the work of over 30 artists from the region and farther afield. These artists have explored the exhibit’s theme in a wide variety of styles and mediums, including paintings, sculptures, videos and installations. A few highlights from the exhibit include Australian artist Hossein Valamanesh’s ‘Constellations’, a piece that was inspired by the writings of Rumi and is constructed from silicon carbide, gravel, wire, and gold leaf. Another incredible work in the exhibit is by Saudi Arabian creator Muhannad Shono titled ‘A Song of Silence’, a sinuous sculpture made of burnt palm.
Opened on November 1st, 2023, SAMoCA is the first museum dedicated to contemporary art in Saudi Arabia. Located at JAX heritage site in Diriyah, this museum’s mission is to foster art appreciation across the Kingdom, and serve as a platform for regional and international talents.
SAMoCA’s “In the Night” exhibit will run until May 20th, and is free to visit with a reservation. The exhibit is open from 10AM to 10PM during the week, and 4 PM to 10 PM on weekends.
