Leisure & Holiday Tourism in Saudi Arabia Soared by 656% in 2024
Of the 17.5 million tourists who visited between January and July 2024, 4.2 million did so purely for leisure purposes.
In a statement marking World Tourism Day, Minister of Tourism Ahmed Al Khateeb announced that the tourism sector has experienced substantial growth, with a 656% increase in the number of tourists arriving for entertainment and leisure purposes since 2019.
Between January and July 2024, the Kingdom welcomed 17.5 million international tourists - a 10% increase compared to the same period in 2023. Of these, 4.2 million visited specifically for leisure.
These results reflect the Saudi government's focus on developing the tourism industry, aligned with its Vision 2030 goal of positioning Saudi Arabia as a global tourism destination, targeting 100 million visitors by the end of the decade.
