Makkah Launches Digital Tree-Planting Initiative to Boost Green Spaces
Using the Nabatik platform, residents can select tree species, choose planting locations, and make payments online to enhance green spaces and reduce carbon emissions.
The Holy Makkah Municipality has launched a digital afforestation initiative to boost vegetation cover, expand green spaces, protect the environment and reduce carbon emissions.
The municipality begins by selecting tree species suitable for Makkah and the holy sites, and identifying optimal planting locations. This information is then posted on the Nabatik online platform, allowing citizens and residents to choose their preferred tree species, select planting locations, make payments online and have the trees planted on their behalf. This system makes it easy for the community to participate in tree-planting efforts from home.
The initiative aims to support climate goals, increase the number of trees in Makkah and the holy sites, and track afforestation progress through the Nabatik platform.
