Counselor Turki Al-Sheikh, Chairman of the Saudi General Entertainment Authority, has announced his support for a forthcoming film that will showcase the life of renowned Egyptian singer Umm Kulthum, with actress Mona Zaki taking on the lead role.
During a press conference held in Cairo, Al-Sheikh revealed that the General Entertainment Authority will provide production support for the film, which aims to present Umm Kulthum's biography in a fresh and distinctive manner. Further details about the project, including the director and specific approach, have yet to be disclosed.
It is worth mentioning that another portrayal of Umm Kulthum's life was undertaken by artist Sabreen in a series named after the singer in 1999. Additionally, Firdous Abdel Hamid portrayed the iconic artist in a different production.
