Nasiba Hafiz Debuts 'Koi' Collection at Jeddah's Crustacean Restaurant
Inspired by a visit to Japan in 2017, the Jeddah-based fashion designer sought to represent the “perseverance, strength, and transformation” of the Koi fish in her latest collection.
Jeddah-based Saudi fashion designer Nasiba Hafiz has recently debuted her latest ‘Koi’ collection at an exclusive event hosted at Crustacean, the modern Asian fusion restaurant located in Jeddah’s Yacht Club. The event brought together fashion, art and gourmet cuisine under one proverbial umbrella.
Inspired by Hafiz’s 2017 trip to Japan, the collection is hallmarked by its vibrant colour scheme and East Asian inspired prints, with Koi fish motifs stealing the spotlight.
"Koi fish represent the ability to overcome obstacles, as they are known for swimming upstream and against currents," Hafiz tells SceneNowSaudi. “I felt like they symbolised how I felt, and it all resonated with my own experiences of facing challenges, personal growth, or the desire to transform in life."
Crustacean, known for its seafood-focused menu and modern Vietnamese décor, including a sunken Koi pond, proved the perfect setting for the exclusive launch of the collection, complementing the evening with a coastal-inspired menu.
