A total of 53 specialists from local and federal authorities across the UAE will participate in a rigorous 10-day training.
The UAE has launched the ‘Senior Citizens Protection Specialists’ program, aimed at training a dedicated team to safeguard the rights of elderly citizens. This initiative, developed by the Ministry of Community Development in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice’s Judicial Training Institute, seeks to address the challenges faced by senior citizens in various aspects of life.
The program involves experts from 14 government entities, emphasizing a collaborative government and societal approach to ensuring the well-being and safety of senior citizens. The initiative aligns with the Federal Law No. (9) of 2019 concerning the Rights of Senior Citizens and the National Policy for Senior Citizens.
A total of 53 specialists from local and federal authorities across the UAE will participate in a rigorous 10-day training, comprising six hours of daily sessions. Upon completion, participants will receive a judicial order certificate, granting them the authority to intervene and protect senior citizens when necessary. The training program encompasses six main themes, focusing on various aspects of senior citizens' protection and welfare. These themes include judicial orders, legal frameworks, sustainable welfare, economic and financial management, mental health support, and physical health enhancement.
The program’s detailed curriculum aims to equip specialists with the tools to address the physical, mental, and economic challenges faced by senior citizens. It covers critical areas such as recognizing and managing health changes, legal rights, financial management, and methods to prevent abuse and violence. Additionally, participants will learn effective communication strategies, the importance of regular health check-ups, and first aid techniques.
