New Legislation Introduced to Ease Global Investment Into Saudi Arabia

The Ministry of Investment has introduced an updated Saudi Investment Law which will come into effect at the beginning of 2025. The new law aims to ease investment into the Kingdom, allowing the Kingdom to enhance its cachet as a global investment destination.

The updated law focuses on including seven international investment principles, namely enhanced investor rights, greater transparency and clarity, eased regulatory restrictions,  streamlined procedures and governance, fair competition, a levelled playing field, and effective dispute resolution.

The kingdom has recently introduced a number of new laws to drive foreign direct investment into the country, including the Civil Transactions Law, Private Sector Participation Law, Companies Law, Bankruptcy Law and Special Economic Zones.

The updated law comes as part of Vision 2030’s National Investment Strategy, which aims to diversify the economy, as well as to provide greater accountability, flexibility and confidence to investors.
