Sir Magdi Yacoub Will Be Honoured by Zayed Award for Human Fraternity

Professor Sir Magdi Yacoub has been selected as one of this year’s Zayed Award for Human Fraternity honorees. This recognition serves as a testament to his steadfast commitment to delivering life-saving medical care to the most marginalised individuals in society, as highlighted in a press release by the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity.

In addition, the award acknowledges Professor Yacoub's noteworthy contributions, including the establishment of the Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundation in Egypt. The announcement of Professor Yacoub's selection was made during a press conference in Abu Dhabi, where the award ceremony will be held on February 5th at the Founding Zayed Monument.

At 89 years old, Professor Yacoub stands as a globally recognized figure in cardiothoracic surgery, holding the position of professor at Imperial College London. He is not only the founder of the Magdi Yacoub Institute located at the Harefield Heart Science Centre in the UK; in 2008, he established the Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundation in Egypt which delivers free medical services to underprivileged persons, while also providing scientific, medical, and nursing training.
