You Will Now Be Exempt from Customs Taxes for Goods Worth EGP 15,000

The limit of personal exemption from customs tax has increased from EGP 10,000 to EGP 15,000 following the most recent devaluation of the Egyptian pound. In layman’s terms, Egyptian citizens and tourists alike will now be exempt from paying an additional tax to goods worth up to EGP 15,000 that they’re bringing into Egypt.

The Customs Media Observatory also confirmed that no new tax burdens were imposed on goods in airport duty-free shops - if purchases don’t exceed USD 200 - with the exception of paying 1% of the due customs tax with a minimum of USD 13 or its equivalent in EGP for every litre of spirits, up to a maximum of two litres.
