Egyptologist and former Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Dr. Zahi Hawass released a statement saying that the viral video by American YouTuber MrBeast, titled ‘I Spent 100 Hours Inside The Pyramids!’, cost over USD 1 million to shoot.

Aside from production costs, Dr. Hawass revealed that the fees were paid to the Egyptian government for a permit to film outside regular operating hours.

MrBeast’s ‘I Spent 100 Hours Inside the Pyramids’ video garnered over 85 million views in the span of three days, and was Youtube’s #1 trending video upon the day of its release.

Currently standing at more than 365 million subscribers, MrBeast - aka James Stephen Donaldson - is currently YouTube's most subscribed content creator, with 361 million subscribers. In January 2017, MrBeast created his first breakthrough video of him ‘Counting to 100,000’, which currently has over 30 million views.
