e& Egypt Begins Production of First Locally Made 5G Router
The new 5G router was developed in collaboration with ToZed, a Chinese broadband company.
Telecommunication company e& Egypt has announced production of Egypt’s first entirely home-made router will soon begin at the Egyptian Silicon Industries Company (SICO) factory in Assiut. This development is part of e& Egypt’s broader strategy to strengthen local manufacturing and provide technology solutions tailored to customer needs.
The router, designed with 5G technology, is the first of its kind to be produced locally. It was developed in collaboration with ToZed, a Chinese company with over 20 years of experience in Mobile and Fixed Broadband terminals.
SICO, which previously produced Egypt's first fully home-made smartphone, is now manufacturing the 5G router as part of its ongoing efforts to advance Egypt’s technology industry. This move aligns with the government’s vision to enhance local manufacturing as a key driver of economic growth, aiming to reduce reliance on imports, save foreign currency, and improve the competitiveness of Egyptian products in global markets.
