GFF Opens Applications for Emerging Talent Programme

The El Gouna Film Festival has opened applications for the fourth edition of its CineGouna Emerging Talent programme, which supports early-career filmmakers and creative professionals from Egypt and across the region.

Backed by the Sawiris Foundation for Social Development and the European Union, the initiative has supported more than 300 young filmmakers since its launch in 2023, helping participants access regional and international industry networks. Alumni have gone on to establish production companies, produce narrative films and take part in major industry events, including the Cannes Film Festival, Sundance Film Festival, Hot Docs, Arab Film Festival Rotterdam and Durban FilmMart.

This year's edition expands the programme through new partnerships with educational and professional development institutions, allowing support to continue throughout the year rather than being limited to the festival, which runs from October 15th to 23rd. The festival also plans to welcome a larger cohort of participants from across the region and internationally.

CineGouna Emerging Talent comprises four tracks. The main programme is aimed at directors, writers, producers and emerging filmmakers, offering access to screenings, workshops, panel discussions and networking opportunities. The See Me track focuses on emerging actors, while Zawaya is designed for photographers, critics and content creators, integrating them into the festival's media coverage. The Clap Again track enables programme alumni to return as mentors while continuing to expand their professional networks.

Applications are open to aspiring filmmakers aged 18 to 35, including students and graduates of film and media programmes, individuals who have contributed to a publicly screened film or series, or those currently developing cinema-related projects.

Selected participants will receive official festival accreditation, granting access to film screenings, the CineGouna forum and market activities, as well as networking and professional development opportunities. The festival will also cover travel costs for successful applicants.

Applications close on July 26th, 2026.
