Architecture Competition Opens for Egypt’s 2027 Venice Biennale Entry

The National Organization for Urban Harmony has launched a national architectural competition to select the work that will represent Egypt at the 2027 Venice Architecture Biennale.

Held under the auspices of Abdel Aziz Konsowa, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and acting Minister of Culture, the competition marks the seventh consecutive edition organised to determine Egypt’s participation in the international exhibition.

Participants are being asked to design and execute a project responding to the 20th International Architecture Exhibition’s theme, ‘Do Architecture – For The Possibility of Coexistence Facing A Real Reality’. The 2027 Biennale will open in Venice on May 8th and run until November 21st, bringing together national pavilions and other architectural projects under a theme centred on coexistence, local practice and architecture’s relationship with real-world conditions. The winning team will be designated as Egypt’s representative at the Biennale and will be responsible for overseeing preparations for the Egyptian pavilion in Venice and attending the official ceremonies. Competition requirements, submission conditions and further details are included in the official competition booklet issued by the National Organization for Urban Harmony.
