NEOM Unveils ‘Ulta-Futuristic’ Epicon Desert Towers
Appearing like a mirage, the sleek towers by 10 Design will offer an otherworldly escape in the Gulf of Aqaba.
Adding to its roster of avante-garde designs, NEOM has unveiled its latest luxury tourism destination, Epicon, which will function as a residential and hospitality hotspot in the coastal deserts of Saudi Arabia.
Punctuating the Gulf of Aqaba, Epicon emerges from NEOM’s desert expanse like a mirage on the horizon. Designed by international architecture practice 10 Design, it acts as a doorway to the gulf, evoking a sense of mystery and movement to provide an ‘otherworldly’ experience.
With its sleek design, the Epicon towers have tall and slender massings that allow them to occupy a small footprint on the desert landscape. One of the towers reaches a height of 225 metres, while the other soars to 275 metres.
Epicon towers will host a luxury 41-key hotel and 14 suites and apartments, neighbouring an Epicon resort which will feature an additional 120 rooms and 45 beachfront residential villas burrowed into the sands of the gulf.
A series of small gardens will offer an enclave of intimacy as guests arrive at Epicon before a lift propels them in the air to enjoy breathtaking views of the Gulf of Aqaba. Epcon’s guests will be invited to relax at a beach club and indulge in wellness treatments before they descend to the surface to explore their natural surroundings.
With both residential and hotel programming, Epicon embodies NEOM’s aim of elevating the standards of both hospitality and architectural design in the Kingdom. Epicon’s reveal comes shortly after the unveiling of Leyja, NEOM’s sustainable tourism destination tucked within a natural valley.
