Studio Five & NotToys Explore the Art in Everyday Objects

Studio Five and NotToys' latest Summer Collection finally gives us an excuse to put a slide in the house, making all our childhood dreams come true. The sister companies' first Functional Art Collection brings together a slide, a shower, a lamp, a sink and a bench, turning familiar household objects into statement pieces for the home.

"It's our first time creating a collection like this, where every piece is designed to be both a sculptural artwork and a functional object," Ahmed Khalifa, co-founder of Studio Five and NotToys, tells SceneHome. The collection includes the Wonder Slide, Giraffe Shower, Giraffe Table Lamp, Floaty Sink and Tubby Bench, with each piece taking an everyday object and giving it a distinctive new form while keeping its original purpose intact.

At the centre of the collection is the Wonder Slide, which became the focal point of the Summer Collection campaign. "The Wonder Slide became the heart of the collection because it represents freedom, curiosity and joy. It is an object that almost everyone associates with childhood, but we wanted to reinterpret it as a design piece for contemporary spaces," says Mohamed Galal, co-founder of Studio Five and NotToys. Its familiar silhouette sets the tone for the rest of the collection, where ordinary objects are approached with the same sense of play.

The Giraffe Shower and Giraffe Table Lamp draw on the long proportions that inspired their names, turning everyday fixtures into bold features within a space. The Floaty Sink introduces soft, rounded edges that give the piece a lighter, almost floating appearance, while the Tubby Bench follows the same language through its oversized, curved profile. Together, the collection applies a consistent design approach across objects that are often overlooked in the home.

"We hope people discover that everyday objects do not have to be ordinary," says Mohsen Rizk, co-founder of Studio Five and NotToys. "Even the most functional pieces in a home can inspire emotion and curiosity."
