14,709 Mosques Have Been Renovated Across Egypt Since 2014
The latest openings bring the total number of mosques inaugurated this month to 30, according to the Ministry of Awqaf.
The Ministry of Awqaf opened 14 mosques across eight governorates on July 10th, as part of its ongoing programme to expand and upgrade places of worship across Egypt.
The latest openings include eight newly rebuilt or renovated mosques and six that underwent maintenance and development. The projects are located across Minya, Beheira, Gharbia, Dakahlia, Aswan, Sohag, Qena and Assiut.
According to the ministry, the latest inaugurations bring the total number of mosques opened since July 1st to 30, comprising 17 newly built or rebuilt mosques and 13 maintained and upgraded sites.
The ministry added that since July 2014, a total of 14,709 mosques have been rebuilt, renovated, maintained or furnished nationwide at a combined cost of approximately EGP 28.2 billion, as part of efforts to improve religious infrastructure across the country.
