26th of July Corridor On-Ramps to Close for Monorail Construction
Traffic diversions will be in place as construction continues on the Wadi El Nile–6 October monorail line in Giza.
The Giza Traffic Administration will implement a full closure of the on-ramps to the 26th of July Corridor for vehicles approaching from Lebanon Square and Sudan Street for five hours on Friday to facilitate construction works on the Wadi El Nile–6 October monorail line.
The temporary closure will affect motorists travelling towards Sheikh Zayed and 6 October City via the corridor, with alternative routes in place throughout the construction period.
Drivers approaching from Lebanon Square will be diverted along the surface road of 26th of July Street towards Sudan Street, before turning into Ahmed Orabi Street and using the new Ahmed Orabi Axis to rejoin the 26th of July Corridor beyond the construction zone. Vehicles approaching from Sudan Street will be directed to turn into Ahmed Orabi Street before following the same diversion via the new axis.
The Giza Traffic Administration said traffic officers and patrols will be deployed at key locations to manage congestion and maintain traffic flow. In coordination with the companies carrying out the project, guidance signs, safety barriers and other traffic management measures will also be installed to direct motorists safely through the affected area.
The authority added that the measures apply only to the affected on-ramps, with through traffic able to rejoin the 26th of July Corridor after passing the construction site via the designated diversion routes.
