43% of Saudi Fraud Victims Recovered Money in 2025
A 2025 consumer survey found 75% of respondents saw fraud as a major consumer risk.
More than half of Saudi citizens have experienced fraud, according to a 2025 field survey by Consumers International, with 43% of victims reporting that they recovered their money.
The survey was jointly funded by the King Khalid Foundation, the Saleh Kamel Humanitarian Foundation and the Abdulkadir Al-Muhaidib Social Foundation.
Among respondents, 16% said they had experienced financial fraud by family members or trusted individuals, defined as the unauthorised withdrawal or spending of their money.
Fraud was identified as one of the biggest risks facing consumers by 75% of respondents, while 70% pointed to misuse of personal data as another widespread concern.
The survey also highlighted uncertainty around financial products. Around 57% of respondents said they do not trust financing tools because they do not understand the fees and benefits attached to them.
Concerns also extended to dispute resolution and redress. Around 90% of respondents said consumers lack adequate tools to file complaints or recover money after experiencing fraud.
