AI-Powered Water Testing Expands Across Dubai Homes

Dubai Municipality has introduced artificial intelligence into its household water quality testing service, enabling faster detection of harmful bacteria and quicker delivery of test results across the emirate.

Operated through the Dubai Central Laboratory, the upgraded service uses AI alongside a fully electronic result-reading system to identify contaminants such as Legionella and E. coli, helping authorities respond more quickly to potential public health risks.

According to Dubai Municipality, the move is intended to strengthen preventive public health measures by reducing testing times, improving the reliability of laboratory analysis and accelerating follow-up action where water quality issues are identified.

The scope of the programme has also been expanded beyond household taps to include water storage tanks, swimming pools and non-bottled drinking water, creating a broader monitoring network for domestic and recreational water sources.

The municipality said the enhanced testing service supports public health standards by enabling faster identification of potential contamination while providing more reliable data for decision-making. It added that the expanded monitoring programme is expected to benefit sectors including hospitality, recreation and public facilities by helping maintain water quality and reduce health risks associated with contaminated water.
