Cairo Buses to Be Connected to GPS Tracking System
A new GPS-based tracking system will allow Cairo's public buses to be monitored in real time.
Cairo's public transport buses will soon be connected to a new GPS-based tracking system as part of efforts to improve monitoring and management across the capital's bus network.
Announced by Cairo Governor Dr Ibrahim Saber, the electronic system will enable authorities to track buses in real time, helping ensure they adhere to their designated routes and operating schedules. The governor said the initiative is intended to improve the quality of public transport services for commuters across Cairo.
The GPS rollout forms part of broader efforts to modernise the capital's public transport system and bus fleet. Among the recent upgrades is the introduction of a smart card payment system, which is designed to streamline fare collection and improve the passenger experience.
